I am currently a graduate student in Anthropological Linguistics at the University of Iowa. My focus is on the aesthetics of the curriculum for learning Ojibwe language as a second language. Basically, I am examining how the language-object is generated and recognized in revitalization efforts. I am interested in how the people involved in Ojibwemowin revitalization efforts cooperate to create an idea of what Ojibwemowin is and then how that idea is expressed, used, valued, and understood by other people.

In addition to my academic research, I create materials for learning Ojibwemowin. These include book translations, children's songs, classroom posters, and soon conversational modules. I have also been invited as guest lecturer on topics more generally related to Anthropology, Linguistics, American Indian Studies, and Art.
